An Incredible Planner System That Stays Fresh All Year (Plus One of My Favorite Pens)

I’m in love with neutral tones on the January 2021 planner.

One of the best things about January is making a fresh start in a new year. And one of the worst things about the rest of the year is seeing that gorgeous planner get a little tattered, stained, and tired.

That’s part of why I’m obsessed with Silk & Sonder’s innovative monthly planner system. I think it’s one of the best splurges you can indulge in to continue feeling inspired all year long.

This planner system is set up to send you a new planner every month of the year. That means each month you get a little surprise in the mail with a fresh new theme and artwork.

The system is designed around a bullet journal approach with plenty of space to get some important concepts out of your head and onto paper.

It’s designed to not only help you keep track of appointments, but also to reach personal goals like developing new habits, keep track of your health through a sleep log, and focus on developing a specific character trait. (As you saw on the cover, January’s theme is “ambition.”

If you want to pamper yourself, consider picking up a high-quality pen.

I love the Kaweco Sport fountain pen because it’s small enough to take along–and yet it writes as nicely as any fountain pen I’ve owned. (But make sure you always carry along another pen to share as needed–these pens are very finicky and won’t work as well if you let someone else use them extensively. Of course, I learned that the hard way.)

If one of your resolutions this year is to stay on top of your finances, there’s also a monthly expense tracker built into each month’s planner.

In a world where most money changes hands digitally, writing down each expense by hand can make the cash outflow seem more real.

This can also be a great place to track business expenses for accounting purposes.

The full two-page week overview also includes an area for meal planning (every meal plus snacks). Which is a huge help in getting a handle on what’s likely to be your biggest potential budget-buster.

Of course, none of the bells and whistles matter if the daily planner section doesn’t work for you.

Personally, I love the blank grid approach taken here because I can make the most of all the space available no matter when I start or end my day.

If you decide you want to try out this system, you can choose from a monthly subscription that can be canceled at any time. Or you can commit to several months or even an entire year to save money.

Personally, I started with the monthly subscription and loved it. But, I talked myself into canceling because I do have a calendar on my iPhone after all. However, after missing one appointment and having a few other close calls, I decided this system is worth the investment to stay focused and on-schedule. The second time around I opted for the annual payment option.
